Janine Smith

Director of Greater Manchester’s Business Growth Hub since 2020, Janine leads an extensive suite of business support activities, to ensure that Greater Manchester is a thriving economic region where businesses and startups are able to thrive and grow.

A former teacher and lecturer, Janine has worked in economic development and business support for the past 20 years, and joined the GM Business Growth Hub in 2013. She is highly skilled at leading multi-million-pound contracts and programmes, and designing services that answer policy and business challenges.

As well as becoming the Hub’s first female Director, Janine is hugely proud to have been recognised amongst the Northern Power Women Power List, Manchester’s Women of the Year, and the Top 100 Inspirational Women for Greater Manchester. She has also been involved in the family business, which has been trading for more than 80 years.
